A few weeks ago, "Beat the Press" discussed a news sharing arrangement at television stations in Chicago. Now, some Boston TV stations will begin sharing resources - including a helicopter.

Jessica Heslam, the Boston Herald's media blogger, has two interesting items up on her blog this afternoon.
First, she reports that WFXT/Fox 25 and WBZ-TV/Channel 4 will soon begin sharing resources in a limited version of a camera pool scheme in Chicago that we discussed on "Beat the Press" a couple of weeks ago.
According to WBZ General Manager Ed Piette, the two stations will begin sharing a helicopter for traffic and breaking news footage on June 1, Heslam reports. A pool camera arrangment for some general news stories will follow sometime in July. (This story was also reported earlier in the day by Michael Malone of Broadcasting & Cable magazine.)
Heslam is also reporting that former WBZ anchor Liz Walker will soon debut a new show on rival WCVB/Channel 5 called "Better Living with Liz Walker."
WCVB says the show is about "healthy living" and bringing viewers "meaningful and thoughtful information about improving our physical, spiritual and collective well being." Channel 5 has signed on for four episodes a year, with the first to air on June 4 at 7:30 p.m., Heslam reports.
