Harry Reid's remarks: A media double standard?

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid’s words – uttered in 2008 – opened up a debate on race again. Reid's comments appeared in the book "Game Change" by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. Was there a media double standard compared to Trent Lott’s comments? Or was it a marketing plan to generate book sales by releasing a controversial remark?
